The Joys of Potty Training

Today is the first day of potty training and I'm about to quit. We have a potty training watch that goes off every 30 minutes and we also check with him every 15 minutes to see if he's ready to try again. It is a fight every time. He is always tearing the toilet paper off and trying to wipe even before he goes, which he hasn't yet in the toilet.

We think he's ready because he tells us right after when we need to change his diaper and he has even told us once that he needed to go so we rushed him to the bathroom and he did it. What's the deal?

We are not using Pull-Ups because we have been told that doesn't help at all and is basically just like a diaper so we are just using underware. Then at night we'll put on a diaper until he wakes up with a dry one. We're also moving him into his new room with a big boy bed and taking away the binkie at night and not giving him milk. We're doing it all at once. BIG CHANGE!

Any suggestions from parent's who have had success with potty training?

Well, it's been forever. Still don't have internet at home so when I get the chance, I check my email and facebook at my mom's. And if I have a little extra time I checkup on my friend's blogs. Thought I would update mine now since I have a couple extra minutes.

GIRL

We are still trying to decide on names, but we've got some time so no hurry. We are really excited and can't wait for Zack to have a little sister.

Long Time No Update

Sorry for the huge gap in updates. We don't have internet at our house and I never remember to take my computer to my mom's to do any updating. When I do, we just don't have time with checking our email and everything.

First, Paul got a temporary job. We're still looking so if anything comes available that any of you might think Paul may like, please let us know. I think the big thing with this job right now is that he's been off for 3 months and kinda felt like he was retired so he didn't really want to go back. Can't say I blame him.

Second, I'm pregnant. We are expecting a new little bundle of joy around October 23rd. I'm only about 11 weeks along and I already feel and sometimes look like I'm about 5 months. I'm told that with the second child your body already knows what to do when it's pregnant so it just does what it needs to do. Kinda funny, but my two sisters-in-law are also pregnant. Adri due in July with a little girl (FINALLY)and Susan due in November. I'm sure family parties will be so much fun with all those extra sensitive hormones ;) .

I guess I don't have any more news, but I think those two announcements were pretty big so I'll leave it at that.

Christmas 2008

This Christmas was very nice. First, for being in our own home and second, for Zack being old enough to enjoy his gifts. He was so fun to watch open his presents and have fun with them all. We thought we would show some of our pictures from our wonderful day/week with our wonderful family.

Pictures of our home

Now that it's been 4 weeks since we moved in, I thought I would share some pics of our new place. These are the day that we moved in so there isn't anything in it so I guess you'll just have to come over and see how it turned out.

Quickest Update Ever

Sorry, I know most of you are wondering about the house. I haven't been able to much lately since we've been very busy with work as well as moving into our new home! We closed on Tuesday evening and moved in Saturday. I can't believe how much stuff we really have. We rented at 26 ft. moving truck and filled the thing completely up from top to bottom, front to back. We had to even take a few things in Paul's dad's truck. We also have stuff still at his parent's house. I think our 3000 sq ft home will be just the right size.
We're still in the process of getting everything put away and it will probably take a while too , so once it's done we'd love to have you all over. Give me a call and we'll let you know how to get there.
I also have not been able to update because I don't seem to have a working computer right now. I had to take mine in to get fixed and wont have it until after Thanksgiving. I'll try to post pictures as soon as I get my computer back.

1. What time do you wake up? On work days it's about 7:00. Weekends, about 7:30, Zack doesn't sleep much later than that.

5. What is your favorite chore? I don't know that I have one, but I seem to be doing laundry all the time. I guess I don't mind laundry.
6. What is your favorite meal to cook? This question means that I actually cook, right?? I guess I'm doing better. I'd have to say Cafe' Rio pork.
7. What meal do you cook most often? I guess we have tacos and dinner in a pumpkin quite a bit, but since it's meat Paul really does all the cooking with those.
8. What are 5 things about being a mom that make you smile?
1-Zack dancing
2-Zack laughing
3-The sweet smell of baby lotion on Zack.
4-Zack's conversations that he ends laughing and throwing his head back. It's pretty priceless.
5-Putting Zack to bed when he's ready to go to bed, but not too tired that he fights me. When he will let me hold him and cuddle with him.
9. If you could take your kids anywhere, where would it be? SeaWorld, Animal Kingdom, San Diego Zoo-pretty much to the California parks.
10. When was the last time you went out without your kids? Paul and I were away from Zack while we were at our convention for work for most of last week and then a couple days this week. It was really hard. We had our first night away from him on Saturday night.
11. What is your most heartbreaking moment as a mom? Taking Zack to the hospital when we found out Zack had RSV.
12. When was the last time you told one of your kids I love you? I just did when I put Zack down for his nap. I tell him all the time too.
13. When was the last time you were told I love you? Zack signs it to me (well, kinda) and blows me kisses all the time (that's his way of saying I Love You).

Elk & Buffalo Farm

Last Sunday Paul & I decided to take Zack to the Elk and Buffalo farm that is located at about 106th South & 36th West. It's in a residential area and looks like it's just someone's backyard. Zack had a lot of fun looking and following the Elk. We couldn't get close enough to the Buffalo to see really well, but there were a lot of them there.

Halloween 2008

For Halloween this year we were hoping to have a party with all our friends and family at our new home, but since we weren't in it we ended up going trunk-or-treating at my parent's ward party. It was a lot of fun and Zack was so cute signing to everyone candy and thank you for the candy they gave him. Isn't he such a cute monkey?

Camden's 4th Birthday at Chuck-E-Cheese

Mike and Susan's little boy, Camden, turned 4 on October 11. For his birthday party we had the opportunity to go to Chuck-E-Cheese. It was a lot more fun than was expected. Zack and all his cousins had a lot of fun.
